SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) It turns out that humans are not the only ones with birthday plans interrupted by COVID-19.

K-9 Dries with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office just celebrated his sixth birthday, but because of the virus, he could not have his friends over for a party.

Instead, all of K-9 Dries' friends surprised him with a Zoom conference.

K-9 Dries, shown in the top center part of a photo shared by the Sheriff's Office, wore a party hat for the occasion and took the opportunity to show off his favorite toy.
