SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) Playgrounds in the City of Santa Cruz are reopening Friday, according to Parks and Recreation.

Those visiting the parks are still required to practice social distancing. wear face coverings and stay home if they are sick or show COVID-19 symptoms.

It is recommended that visitors wash their hands or use hand sanitizer regularly because the playground equipment is not sanitized.

On Sunday, some Santa Cruz park goers said they were not too concerned about this.

“If we’re done at the park, we go wash our hands, we clean up. It’s not a big deal so we try not to let that affect our life," said Lorenzo Lee.

Lee was visiting Ocean View park to play football with his family, saying that having the freedom to play the sport with them at the park means more to him than just having a day out.
