SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION) San Benito County announced that it is offering COVID-19 penalty waivers for property taxes.

The County's Treasurer/Tax Collector Melinda Casillas said the county will continue to honor tax payments without penalty charges for installments while the Shelter in Place order is in effect. The order is currently set to end on May 3. It does not apply to installment payments that are due before March 1.

If you have been charged a penalty during that timeframe, you are asked to request a COVID-19 Penalty Waiver form.

Casillas also thanked those who were able to pay the second installment of their property taxes due on April 10.

The lobby of the Office of the Tax Collector is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

If you have any questions, you are asked to contact the Office of the Tax Collector at 831-636-4034 or propertytaxes@cosb.us.
