GREENFIELD, Calif. (KION) The City of Greenfield announced that it is offering a pilot program to provide free COVID-19 antibody testing to first responders in the city. Mayor Lance Walker shared the announcement on social media.

The city said it was approached by the CEO of CERESLabs, a cannabis analytical testing lab, about providing the antibody testing and brought in its partner, ARCpoint Labs in Monterey.

On Wednesday, volunteers from several local cannabis businesses are expected to help with the day-long event. Some of the businesses expected to help out include Loudpack, Indus, River View Farms, Pacific Reserve and Higher Level Dispensary.

"This is the kind of public/private partnerships we are looking for in our city," Walker said. "It's exactly the way it should happen, joining forces and moving forward for the common good.

Blood draw tests will be administered by ARCpoint Labs and analyzed by Diazme Laboratories.

"We are excited to be able to extend access to this testing to our neighbors in Greenfield and honored to be working with first responders," said ARCpoint Labs Founder Spencer Smith. "However, the aggregated information that antibody testing can furnish to city and other public health agencies can help guide decision making during this pandemic."

Once the pilot program is finished, the plan is to roll it out in more cities in southern Monterey County.
