GILROY, Calif.--On March 21st, law enforcement officers from the Santa Clara County Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (S.A.F.E.) Task Force, Gilroy Police Department Investigations Unit, California State Parole, Santa Clara County Probation and U.S. Marshals Office conducted sex registrant compliance checks throughout Gilroy and the surrounding unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County.
The purpose of the operation was to verify persons required to register as sex offenders were residing at their registered addresses. The teams of law enforcement officers verified 67 registered sex offender addresses and found four persons out of compliance with their registration requirements.
Warrants will be sought for the four subjects not in compliance with their registration requirements.
The City of Gilroy has approximately 130 registered sex offenders within the city limits. The Megan's Law website ( www.meganslaw.ca.gov/ ) allows citizens to search for registered sex offenders by geographic location and by name.
Anyone with information regarding out of compliance sex registrants are urged to contact the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in that area.
