CARMEL, Calif. - There could be a big shakeup in the Central Coast political scene.
James Panetta, son of former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, told the Carmel Pinecone in an exclusive interview, that he's considering running for a Sam Farr's U.S. House of Representatives seat.
The 43-year-old, who sits on several boards, said a desire to give back to his home community is a big reason he'd like to run for the seat.
The Pinecone reports Panetta already has the backing of many local leaders, who commend his father, Leon, for a lifetime of honorable service, and say the "apple doesn't fall far from the tree".
James Panetta said he won't commit to running for the Representative seat until Sam Farr retires.
The paper will hit news stands in the morning.
