SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Santa Cruz Police arrested a career criminal Monday, after releasing surveillance photos of several locations being robbed in the Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay areas.

39 year old Scott Dean Russo was identified in the photos, which led police to his motel room. There, police found hundreds of stolen items, including computers, women's clothing, cell phones, bicycles, and sports equipment.

Russo admitted to stealing the items, and selling them at flea markets. Russo has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1992. The police are now working with neighboring counties to see if Russo may be wanted in their jurisdiction.

Police are now also searching through the items to identify them, and the people they were taken from.

Russo was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on burglary, possession of stolen property, and narcotics charges.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Santa Cruz Police Department Investigations unit at 831-420-5820.
