Dominican Hospital To Close Some Services In May

Posted: Updated:

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - As a result of closing the Dominican Hospital rehab campus on Frederick Street in Santa Cruz, Dominican Hospital intends to close the following services in May 2013: Restorative Care Unit (Skilled Nursing Facility), the Orthopedic Outpatient Physical Therapy program and the prenatal clinic.

Patients will be referred to one of the seven licensed skilled nursing facilities throughout the community.

Dominican Hospital says it is carefully evaluating programs to ensure the continuum of patient care as Frederick Street closes.

The changes at Dominican will result in the elimination of approximately 80 positions. Employees have been notified, and Dominican Hospital says it will work with affected employees to help them find other positions.

According to a hospital news release, Dominican intends to maintain and relocate several other services at the Frederick Street Campus over the course of the next several months.
