SAN FRANCISCO, March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DWA, the global technology communications agency, today announced the new senior hire of Zak Garner as Director of New Media, effective immediately.

Garner comes to DWA from Gyro San Francisco where he led media strategy for clients managed out of the technology-focused San Francisco agency. He brings proven capability in progressive media strategy and leveraging advertising technology. Prior to Gyro, he served in a media strategist role at Starcom in Chicago.

At DWA, Garner is charged with innovating the communications planning practice through applications of advertising technology, emerging digital platforms, social media, analytics and custom industry partnerships. "Zak brings energy, experience, and unique perspective to our business and we are thrilled to have him join the team," says President Bob Ray. "Zak is an incredibly talented executive with the rare ability to deeply understand technology, media strategy, analytics and a vision of where the market is going. Zak's hire is a validation of DWA's vision to be one of the next generation communications and media agencies focused on the intersection of ideas and performance."

One of Garner's first opportunities to represent DWA was at last week's IAB Leadership Summit in Phoenix. As part of his participation, Garner served on Turn's first ever Customer Advisory Board, which brought together digital strategists and product development teams to discuss the evolving global market for programmatic media buying and real-time analytics.

"The emergence of marketing technology platforms and new media channels is revolutionizing how marketers can successfully engage their audiences and close the loop on success," said Garner. "I'm excited to join the growing DWA team and help our clients realize the potential created by this progression."

Garner will be spending his time in both the Boston and San Francisco offices.

DWA is the world's largest and most respected media planning and buying agency working exclusively with technology companies.
