SALINAS, Calif.- A wanted gang member was arrested Thursday night in Salinas after he ran from a traffic stop and hid out in the backyard of a home.
Police said the suspect hopped fences and entered the backyard of a home on Grove Street near Alameda, in a neighborhood off Abbott Street. The home was occupied at the time and police had their guns drawn. A K-9 unit was on scene. The suspect was arrested after 45 minutes.
No one inside the home was injured. Neighbors were told to stay inside their homes during the standoff.
Late Thursday, Salinas Police told Central Coast News the man arrested was wanted in connection to a homicide case in Soledad, but wouldn't explain further. Central Coast News was told Soledad detectives came to Salinas to interview the suspect.
The suspect has been booked into the Monterey County Jail.
