Posted: Updated:

WATSONVILLE, Calif. -- Watsonville Police responded to a man stabbed to death on Lincoln Street Thursday afternoon around 3 p.m.

Officers said a group of men got into a fight. The suspects started chasing the victim through city streets and into an apartment complex and parking lot. That's when police said the victim was stabbed, but they won't say how many times. The victim was identified Thursday night as 20-year-old Felipe Reyes of Watsonville.

The 4-5 male suspects took off and haven't been located.

AMR and Watsonville Fire Medics arrived and administered CPR and other life saving efforts to Reyes. Their efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of this report, WPD Detectives are working the case and developing leads. WPD Crime Scene Investigators processed the crime scene and recovered some useful evidence. However, the department will not elaborate as to what that evidence is at this time as to not impede the investigation.

Anyone with further information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the WPD Investigations Division at (831) 768-3352 or the Crime Tip Line at (831) 768-3544.

This is the third stabbing in the city in three days.
