Central Coast News and the Santa Cruz Police Officer's Association have partnered to set up a memorial fund at Bay Federal Credit Union to support the families of Elizabeth Butler and Loran "Butch" Baker.
Sgt. "Butch" Baker leaves behind his wife, son, and two daughters. Sergeant Baker's son also serves with the Santa Cruz Police Department.
Detective Butler had served with the Santa Cruz Police Department for 10 years. She is survived by her two young children and boyfriend.
Donations of any amount can be made online here. You can also donate at any Bay Federal Credit Union branch or mailed to 3333 Clares Street, Capitola, CA 95010. Checks should be made payable to the Santa Cruz Police Officer's Foundation.
