GONZALES, Calif.- Smoke could been seen off Highway 101 Monday afternoon in south Monterey County after a small brush fire started in Gonzales.

An investigation is underway into what started the small fire, but crews believe it may have began by a porta-potty near Gonzales River Road.

About half an acre burned. No structures were threatened and one was injured.
