SALINAS, Calif- Police have reported at least two different attempted homicides in Salinas Sunday evening.
The first happened on the 900 block of Hancock Street around 6:30 p.m. Police said the victim, a 28-year-old man, was getting out of his car when he was approached by someone in a gray hoodie. The suspect pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the victim, said police. The victim was able to run inside and call police.
Police said that the suspect fired several rounds, but only two parked cars were hit during the shooting. At this time police do not know why the victim was targeted and the investigation continues.
The second shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. on the 11 block of Eagle Drive. The two victims were approached by two suspects who asked about the gang affiliation. According to police, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot at the victims. Police said nobody was injured but a nearby house was hit.
The suspects in the second shooting were dressed in black and drove off in a two tone gray mini van.
