BIG SUR, Calif.- It's a great week to be outdoors and enjoy the sunshine, but getting to one of your destinations might take a little longer than expected if you're heading down the coast to Big Sur.
The Transportation Agency of Monterey County said the Highway 1/Rocky Creek Viaduct Project through March 1 will be underway. Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 continues next week from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, Feb.25 through Friday, March 1. Overnight closures continue from 9pm to 7am Sunday, Feb. 24 and Monday, Feb. 25 and from 11pm to 7 am Tuesday, Feb. 26 through Thursday, Feb. 28.
Highway 1 at Rocky Creek has one-way signalized traffic control 24/7. Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes at a time during daytime roadwork. Construction continues with drilling to place falsework on bridge columns.
Also Highway 1 in the Big Sur area will have maintenance work through March 1. Crews will be conducting tree work and shoulder work at multiple locations in the Big Sur vicinity. Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
