WASHINGTON, D.C. - According to FOX News, the Pentagon has announced its plan if the March 1 deadline passes without a budget approved.
The plan describes 800,000 civilian workers would be forced to take one day of leave without pay a week for 22 weeks starting April 1, but after the 22 weeks, there is no future plan.
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta sent a memo to all employees saying Panetta would continue to work to avoid the sequestration, which
would add $470 billion to the $487 billion in defense spending cuts the
department already is making over the next 10 years.
CNN reports the Pentagon is required to notify Congress of any furlough that go into effect 45 days in advance and the workers must give a 30 day notice before they will be furloughed.
