SALINAS, Calif. - There's an effort to find a 15-member committee in Salinas, in search of additional police funding.

The Committee of Salinas Residents is looking for applicants to join the leadership team behind this effort.  The team would consider finding funding for more police officers and/or modern police facilities.

Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to Salinas and will be considered on diversity of community involvement, geography and other means to assure a team that is representative of the Greater Salinas Community.

A slate will be prepared in time for presentation at the next Community Meeting on the subject Monday, March 4th at 5:15PM at Cesar Chavez Library.  Applications are available on-line at www.salinaspublicsafetyfunding.org or by contacting Committee Chair, Bob Perkins at bobperkins@redshift.com or (831) 595-5267.

Applications are due no later than February 22nd, 2013 at 5PM.
