USGS: 6.2 Earthquake Hits Solomon Islands Region

SOLOMON ISLANDS REGION -- The U.S. Geological Survey said a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit just southwest of the Solomon Islands on Wednesday.

It happened at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time, which is 11:30 a.m. in the Solomon Islands. The U.S. Geological Survey said it was 222 miles from the Solomon Islands.

On Tuesday an 8.0 earthquake triggered a tsunami warning for the Solomon Islands and surrounding areas.
