SALINAS, Calif. -- Officers arrested a man after he reportedly vandalized a patrol car.

Police said it happened just before 6:00 p.m. on Monday along the 2300 block North Main Street. At the time an officer was responding to a report of a stolen car. Police said as the officer was taking a report a resident saw a man vandalizing the car nearby.

Police were able to track down the suspect, and took 48-year old Michael Martinez into custody for causing damage to a patrol car.
