SALINAS, Calif- CHP said a major injury accident closed down part of the road on Highway 101 and Espinosa Road for over an hour Tuesday morning. One person was ejected from the vehicle.

Officers said it happened at 9:11 a.m. on Tuesday. Officers said a 1997 Ford F-150, driven by a 50-year old Castroville man, was trying to turn left onto northbound Highway 101 to Espinosa Road. CHP said the F-150 was hit by a 2006 Land Rover that was heading southbound on 101.

Investigators said the driver of the F-150 wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the truck. Officers said the driver of the F-150 had major injuries and was taken to Natividad Medical Center then later transferred to San Jose Medical Center for treatment. Officer said the driver of the Land Rover only suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital. Another passenger in the Land Rover wasn't hurt.

CHP said the right southbound lane of 101 was closed for about 90 minutes. Officers don't believe alcohol or drugs played a factor in the accident.
