SANTA CLARA, Calif.- We're going to take you behind the scenes of the brand new 49ers Stadium that's set to open next year. The fact that its about 35 miles closer to Central Coast than Candlestick Park, means it'll be easier to get to a game next season. We got a first hand look at the new stadium the 49ers said is being built to impress.
"We're really trying to take you know, whats been done in other markets but make it specific to here, to make the stadium have that Bay Area feel and culture," said Al Guido, VP of Sales for 49ers Stadium.
At a budget of $1.2 billion, it doesn't quite set a record for the NFL. The New York Jets and Giants stadium was about $1.6 billion and the Dallas Cowboy's stadium was about $1.3 billion. But it's truly a work of art for not only football fans, but for sports fans all over the world.
"Very exciting, I mean not just for 49ers football but for other events such as the Super Bowl, international soccer, all the things that are now going to come to Santa Clara," Guido said.
They're building 13 access points to get inside the stadium, which puts Candlestick's two entrances to shame. Meaning it'll take less time to get to your seat.
"Parking and transportation, you know, how easy its going to be to access the building, that's a lot of what we deal with at Candlestick," Guido said.
The 49ers are also focusing on bringing Bay Area flare, from the design to the snacks you buy throughout the game.
"Local things like food and beverage, there's gonna be a 49ers hall of fame inside and a museum and a fantasy football lounge," Guido said.
Some food may even be sourced straight from the Salinas Valley.
"Fresh food, it needs to be organic, it needs to speak to this marketplace and they're going to look to source all those products within this area," Guido said.
One major perk to having the new stadium in Santa Clara, is the team's training facilities and corporate headquarters are on the same property, making this place really feel like home for the team and all the fans.
