Police: Santa Cruz Man Arrested While Downloading Child Porn, Police Looking for More Victims

Posted: Updated:

SANTA CRUZ, Calif- Police have arrested a man that they said was downloading and redistributing child pornography.

According to police they were alerted in November that someone was in the area was actively trying to find child porn online.  Using sophisticated forensic software, detectives said they were able to track the source of the videos to 38 year-old Tate Middour.

Middour was arrested Tuesday. Police said that while they were serving a search warrant at his house on the 1200 block of Shaffer Road, Middour was downloading child pornography to his computer. After his arrest, police said that he posted bail and was released.

Officers are still investigating this case and at this time they are trying to determine if Middour made any child porn or if he was just sharing it with others. Police said that Middour had access to a number of children, but at this time they do not know if any of them were victims.

Anyone who has a child that Middour had contact with is encouraged to contacte Santa Cruz Police Department detectives at (831) 420-5820.
