Posted: Updated:

SALINAS, Calif. -- Highway 68 near Hitchcock Road is re-opened after crews worked to pull a tractor trailer up on its right side.

CHP said the single vehicle accident happened around noon at the corner of Hitchcock Road and South Davis Road in Salinas. CHP said the trailer was heading South on Davis road when the truck tipped over on its side. Officers said the driver was taken to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Officers said the truck was carrying a trailer with load of dirt. CHP said a small amount of diesel fuel leaked from truck onto roadway and nearby field. Public works is working to contain the spill, digging up areas of the field near roadway that could be contaminated.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
