SANTA CRUZ, Calif.-- Santa Cruz Fire responded to reports of a confirmed structure fire just after seven last night at 720 Almar.
When crews got to the scene, they found a bedroom on fire. They were able to get the fire contained to the bedroom.
One resident of the home was found in the garage, suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Inside the home were more than 20 cats and two dogs, some of which died in the fire.
Damage is estimated at around $150,000.
