WASHINGTON, D.C. - According to FOX News, the House voted in favor to extend the debt ceiling as a short-term solution. The extension will allow the country to continue borrowing until May.

At that time, a provision that was passed could put lawmakers' pay at risk if a budget is not passed by April.

Officials said the solution eliminates the immediate threat of the country going into default but does not provide a permanent solution to the larger issue.
