Snapchat is a popular app that teens can't seem to get enough of. It's where someone sends a picture message that is displayed for only a couple seconds and then it deletes itself. Experts say this new app could encourage sexting.
This is how the app works, you first have to create a log in account. Once you do that you're able to start taking pictures. You get to choose how long you want the picture to pop up for, then send it to a friend.
The app encourages people to share memories and pictures without having to store them in your phone. The picture shows up on a friends phone for just a few seconds, then gets destroyed. Unless someone takes a screen shot of your photo, then you get a notification that someone copied your picture.
Depending on who you ask, this could be a completely fun way to send pictures or completely scandelous. CNN posed the question: Snapchat, Sexting Tool? or the next Instagram?
Some experts say this new app could pave the way more more teens sexting. The Wall Street Journal said Snapchat is more popular amongst younger people. About 13% of teens between 13 and 18 use the app compared with 4% percent of adults 19 to 25 years old.
Forbes says Snapchat is used 30 million times a day, by its millions of users. The app launched in September 2011.
