SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. - Members from the Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force put a man behind bars, on several drug charges Wednesday afternoon. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was driven by Adan Nunez-Torres in the area of Green Valley Road, and Celia Drive.
During the stop it was determined that Torres was found to be driving without a license. Torres was arrested for driving without a license and a subsequent search of his vehicle revealed approximately 2/12 ounces of crystal methamphetamine in the vehicle. Torres was arrested for transportation of a controlled substance.
After Torres' arrest the case was turned over to the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team (SCCACT) for further investigation. Upon further investigation the SCCACT was able to secure a search warrant for the residence at 35 Alegre Drive, in Watsonville, as they believed this was a location that Torres was using to stash further narcotics.
Upon searching the home Agents located approximately 1.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, cutting agents, packaging materials, digital scale, a loaded .45 caliber handgun, and a reported stolen 9mm handgun. Agents also located and seized $3,000.
The street value of all of the methamphetamine that was located is estimated to be over $70,000.00.
Torres was taken to the Santa Cruz County Jail to be booked on the listed charges. HSI also placed an immigration hold on Torres.
