Homelessness On Agenda For Oldtown Salinas Businesses

Posted: Updated:

SALINAS, Calif.- The Oldtown Salinas Association will host its second community meeting on homelessness Thursday, as many argue there's been a huge spike in issues surrounding the growing homelessness epidemic.

The meeting at the Salinas City Hall Rotunda will look to find viable solutions to the top problems identified in the December meeting, said a news release Tuesday from OSA.

Councilman Steve McShane, as well as representatives from the Salinas Police Department, City of Salinas, County of Monterey, and local service providers will be present.

The first community meeting drew a large turn-out. People packed the City Hall Rotunda. The community came together to discuss the problems associated with homelessness.  The feedback forms were tallied, and analyzed, results will be shared at this next meeting.

Additional input has been sought from city and county officials, as well as service providers, Monterey County Coalition of Homeless Service Providers, and the Salinas Downtown Community Board.

There will be presentations followed by a "Question and Answer" period.
