SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Santa Cruz City Firefighters have determined the cause of Monday evening's fire in the area of Josephine and River Streets. The fire was reported at 9:55 p.m.
According to Santa Cruz City Fire, the response was upgraded as heavy flames and smoke could be seen from a distance, upon the arrival of fire crews.
Crews initially went to the reported address on Josephine and found that it was down a long driveway off River Street. Crews gained access and found an outside shed, dumpster and a vehicle in various stages of catching fire.
The fire was also starting to get into a storage locker facility witch had approximately 20-30 units. Crews aggressively attacked the fire preventing the fire from entering the storage facility. No damage was done to the interior of the storage facility however the roof and overhang had to be opened up to extinguish hidden fire. No injuries were reported.
The fire cause was determined to be electrical in nature or combustibles to close to a heating devise. A homeless male was allowed by the owner to stay at this location.
