Investigators Say Circumstances Live Oak Vacation Home Fire Suspicious

Posted: Updated:

SANTA CRUZ, Calif- Central Fire Investigators in Santa Cruz County say circumstances surrounding an overnight fire at an oceanfront  home on Live Oak Beach are very suspicious.

Firefighters say the home, located on Geoffroy Drive, was vacant at the time of the fire and is a vacation home.

Unfortunately, there appears to be much more to this story.

A neighbor, who called in the fire to authorities, reported seeing a woman on the rear balcony of the home.

That woman was said to be just staring at the house as it burned to the ground.

Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Deputies got to the scene and escorted the woman off the premises.

That woman is currently being held at Dominican Hospital, as doctors evaluate her mental status.

Deputies on scene say the woman was not making too much sense when they questioned her and may have some mental issues.

The case is still being investigated by fire investigators.
