Possession of Meth Arrest in Salinas

SALINAS, Calif. -- Police arrested 25-year old Javier Benitez after a traffic stop near South Sanborn Road and John Street.

It happened on Saturday around 6:30 p.m. Officers searched his car and found methamphetamine. Salinas Police said Benitez also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Officers booked Benitez into the Monterey County Jail on meth possession charges and the outstanding warrant. Police said the passenger, 24-year old Maria Garcia had a misdemeanor warrant and was cited then released.
