SALINAS, Calif. -- The Salinas Police Department's Violence Suppression Unit conducted a vehicle stop for mechanical violations on Saturday at N. Sanborn Road and Freedom Parkway at 5:19 p.m.
The driver, a 17 year old male, was unlicensed and had no ID.
After officers searched his car, they found a loaded .22 caliber revolver under the driver's seat.
They said he also had numerous prescription drugs that were not prescribed to him.
He admitted to possessing the gun because people were trying to kill him.
He was taken to Juvenile Hall.
