Major Construction Project Opens New Route For Drivers - Central Coast News KION/KCBA

PRUNEDALE, Calif.- You've battled the construction zone for months on a major, accident-prone and congested highway on the Central Coast that is undergoing major improvements to eliminate the number of accidents and delays, providing much needed relief for approximately 100,000 drivers every day.

The Prunedale Improvement Project will reach a major milestone Friday. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will celebrate the opening of the new Prunedale South Road Overcrossing at US 101 in Prunedale, which officially opens to public traffic on Monday, January 14.

The new Prunedale South Road Overcrossing is the first major section of the US 101/Prunedale Improvement Project to open to the public. The new overcrossing will allow northbound Highway 101 traffic to cross over to Blackie Road and the west side of Highway 101 without having to make a left turn across southbound Highway 101 traffic, and vise-versa.                         

 The ceremony will take place Friday, January 11, 9 a.m. on the top of the new Prunedale South Road Overcrossing to include Monterey County Supervisor Lou Calcagno; Chris Orman, Chief North County Fire; Vee Thomas, Prunedale 101 Bypass Committee; Debbie Hale, Executive Director for TAMC; Bruce Pastorius, Caltrans.
