SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -- Four days after family and friends of 23-year old Alex Fossgreen reported him missing in Scotts Valley, Fossgreen was found safe after he said he went camping.
Santa Cruz Sheriff deputies said Fossgreen told deputies he did not know he was listed as a missing person. Family reported Fossgreen had left his home around 4:45 a.m. on foot. Friends said he was depressed over a recent breakup with his fiancé.
Prior Report:
Fossgreen is described as 5'7'', weighing around 135 lbs with short brown hair, hazel eyes and a goatee. His family said he left the house without his I.D., money and cell phone. Deputies said they believe Fossgreen left his home with a back pack, clothes, passport and drivers license.
Family members said some of Fossgreen's favorite areas to hike are the North Eastern part of Henry Cowell State Park, the UCSC Meadow area, Pogonip Park and the abandoned quarry off Mount Hermon.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office plans to search the Empire Grade area on Tuesday.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said on Monday Search and Rescue teams went looking for Fossgreen near his home on Lockwood Lane and Felton. Witnesses told deputies they saw someone that looked like Fossgreen in the Fall Creek State Park area.
Investigators plan to expand their search efforts on Tuesday into the area of Fall Creek Park. Crews are also planning a search for the missing man on Wednesday.
