SALINAS, Calif.- After a year of battling budget cuts, salary negotiations and new leadership, the Salinas Fire Department is welcoming in two new faces to help keep the community safe.
It held a graduation Friday of fire recruits Joseph Tait and Anthony Valerio from the Salinas Fire Academy.
The Fire Department said the 6 p.m. ceremony at the City Hall Rotunda building, 200 Lincoln Avenue, is an important step forward for the community.
"The graduation of a fire academy and the start of a career as a firefighter is one of the most rewarding public service opportunities available," says Fire Chief Ed Rodriguez in a news release.
Family, friends and the public are invited to join the Fire Department in welcoming the two newest members of the Salinas Fire Department.
