NEWTOWN, Conn- Students of Sandy Hook Elementary school will be returning to classes this Thursday, according to the Newtown Board of Education.
This comes after a gunman killed 20 students and six teachers at the school on December 14th.
The classes will take place at a repurposed school in the neighboring town of Monroe, where desks and even personal belongings left behind after the shooting have been set up for those returning children.
Families have been coming in to see the new school, and an open house is scheduled for Wednesday.
An army of workers has been getting the school ready, painting, moving furniture and even raising the floors in the bathrooms of the former middle school so the smaller elementary school students can reach the toilets.
