CHP Conducting DUI Holiday Crackdown

SANTA CLARA CO., Calif.--The Winter Holiday Anti-DUI crackdown has resulted in a significant number of DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 13 DUI deployments  in Santa Clara County.


From 12:01 AM Friday December 14, 2012 through Midnight Tuesday December 24, 2012 officers representing Santa Clara County law enforcement agencies have arrested 256 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2011, 275 DUI arrests occurred during the same eleven (11) day time period. 

Over the course of the next several days of the campaign, extra DUI Saturation Patrols will be deployed in the cities of: Mountain View, Los Altos, Palo Alto, Los Gatos, Santa Clara, San Jose, Gilroy, and Morgan Hill. DUI Checkpoints will be conducted in the cities of Cupertino and Morgan Hill on Friday, Dec. 28th and Mountain View on Saturday, Dec. 29th.

All regularly scheduled traffic and patrol officers will focus efforts at stopping and arresting DUI drivers during their normal shifts. Multiple DUI/Driver's License Checkpoints, Multi-Agency DUI Task Force operations and local Roving DUI patrols are all part of this region-wide crackdown during the 19 day Winter Holiday Campaign.
