PLACER COUNTY, Calif. - A Sierra ski resort patrol team member who was injured after being caught in an avalanche has died tonight - the second death connected to avalanches that shook the area yesterday.
53-year-old bill foster died in a Reno, Nevada hospital, where he was taken after the avalanche Monday, the Alpine Meadows resort said in a statement today.
Foster was buried in a slide that was intentially set with an explosive device as part of an avalance control project.
An avalanche at Donnner Ski Ranch yesterday also killed 49-year-old Mark Anderson, of Truckee.
