BIG SUR, Calif. - Part of Highway 1 in Big Sur will remain closed for most of this week, while crews repair a 60-foot section of the road at Partington Ridge Road, damaged by rock slides last weekend.
The closure begins just south of Deetjens Big Sur Inn at mile marker 42, and at Lucia, at mile marker 23.
Businesses in the northern Big Sur community will be open.
Alternate routes for motorists are:
Highways 68, 101 and 46, and nacimiento-Fergusson Road.
Caltrans says they hope to have at least one lane reopened sometime this week.
