New Safety Watch To Help Kids In Danger

Posted: Updated:

SALINAS, Calif. -- A new safety watch for kids is being endorsed by Marc Klaas, the founder and director of the KlaasKids Foundation.

The watch, known as the "leo," is designed to let kids alert police and parents when they're in danger.

It has two buttons that the child will have to grab and squeeze at the same time, then their current real-time location will be dispatched to 911 and to their parents.

Klaas, whose daughter Polly was kidnapped and murdered in 1993, said the watch is the closest thing to the 'holy grail' of child safety products.

"Today we say enough is enough, and we've designed a technology that can not only locate them, but keep them where they're safe," he said. "Parents can go online and set up safety zones around the child's school, around their neighborhoods, around their parks, and if the child leaves that parameter, parents are notified immediately."

The leo wrist watch will be available in the spring, retailing for around $200.
