PRUNEDALE, Calif. -- The SPCA for Monterey County is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who abandoned a horse and a pony in Prunedale.
According to the SPCA, the animals were found on Leafwood Road wandering through the neighborhood earlier Sunday.
The pony is a seven year old palomino mare suffering from a tick infestation. The horse was also covered in ticks, had bad teeth, and was thin.
The animals are now safe at the SPCA. If you have any information about this case, contact the SPCA at 831-373-2631.
If caught, the owners could face several charges, including Animal Cruelty, Deprivation of Food, Water and Shelter, and Abandonment.
