Posted: Updated:

SOLEDAD, Calif. -- More than a dozen investigations into state employees stealing taxpayer money by wracking up illegal overtime and the fallout of those investigations is just beginning.

The latest investigation centers around a psychiatrist working on the Central Coast who allegedly falsified time records, making him one of the top paid public employees in the state, according to Bloomberg News.

The news agency said Dr. Mohammad Safi, a psychiatrist from the Salinas Valley State Prison, was paid more than $800,000.

The California Medical Board said Wednesday he still has his license.

Bloomberg News said Dr. Safi was suspended with pay.

Just across the way at the Soledad Correctional Training Facility, Central Coast News has been reporting about the the multi-layer investigation underway.

On Tuesday, the State Auditor's office said a supervising registered nurse falsely claimed to have worked 183 hours of regular, overtime, and on-call hours that amounted to $8,600 over what she should've received.

Central Coast News obtained a letter of no confidence sent by other nurses to the state two years ago about Lydia Hampton-Stewart, and have also told you about the Director of Nursing Angelia Britt, who the auditor's office said failed to make sure the timesheets were accurate.

Britt is also being investigated by the Attorney General's office for falsifying drug records and failing to report 1,200 drug losses.

The attorney general is also investigating Albert Cox, a licensed vocational nurse, once at CTF, for supposedly putting incorrect entries in patient records related to drugs, possessing pharmaceutical drugs, and not administering medications properly.
