CBS is reporting that North Korea has fired a rocket just days from South Korea's presidential election.
Reuters reports the South Korea's Defense Ministry and its Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed that there was a long-range rocket launch.
Its reported that this is the second rocket launch under North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who took power following his father, Kim Jong Il's death last year.
Right now South Korean officials say its not clear if the launch on Wednesday morning was successful. CBS said a similar launch happened in April but broke apart after take-off.
CBS said North Korea is banned from doing any missile or nuclear-related tests under U.N. sanctions. Those sanctions were imposed after its 2006 and 2009 nuclear tests.
