SALINAS, Calif. -- Three suspects carjacked an 18-year old man at gunpoint as he was leaving a gas station Monday night, according to Salinas Police.

It happened at the Arco Gas Station on Williams Road, just after 9:00pm.

Police say the three men approached the victim as he was leaving the station in a 1996 Ford Taurus. One of them was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun. According to police, the suspects blocked the victim's path and ordered him to get out of the vehicle. That's when, police say, they got into the car and drove away. A short time later, the victim's car was found abandoned in front of Alisal High School. Police say the car was partially stripped and had some fresh body damage.

Police continue to investigate the incident. If you have any information, you're urged to call police.
