WATSONVILLE, Calif. -- A Mexican restaurant was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night in Watsonville, and now police are looking for the suspect.

Watsonville Police say a man entered Fidel's Mexican Food on Airport Boulevard, brandished a chrome colored handgun and demanded money from the clerk.

According to police, the clerk complied with the suspect's demands in fear of being harmed and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the store southbound on Airport Road. Police say at the time of the robbery, there were several patrons and employees in the store, but no one was injured in the incident.

Police conducted an extensive search in the area with the help of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force and the Watsonville Police K-9, Ellex, but were unable to find the suspect.

Police describe the suspect as a male between 16 and 22 years old, wearing a gray sweatshirt, jeans and beanie cap. Police say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call Watsonville Police.
