Two Pacific Grove Students Leave School After Possible Overdose

Posted: Updated:

PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. - Two Pacific Grove High School students were taken from school Tuesday just after noon after potentially overdosing on a prescription medication.

According to Pacific Grove police, the two students, a 15-year-old and 14-year-old, appeared lethargic when approached by school staff. Police and the Monterey Fire Department were dispatched to the high school.

Police say the 15-year-old student some how received four Adderall pills, a prescription drug taken by people diagnosed with ADHD or narcolepsy. Police determined the student had swallowed two pills and inhaled half of another, and gave the other pill to the 14-year-old.

The 15-year-old student was taken to the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula where he was treated and released. The other student was treated at school and released to parents.

Pacific Grove Police and Monterey Police worked to find out where the students got the prescription pills. Police contacted a 17-year-old female, who voluntarily came into the Pacific Grove police station, and answered questions. She was not arrested and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pacific Grove Police Department at 831-648-3143.
