Salinas Chamber To Fix Bullet Holes Shot Through Window

Posted: Updated:

SALINAS, Calif. -- The City of Salinas is spending more than $200,000 for branding and a new logo, but all the while the face of the business community has two bullet holes shot through its front window that have been there for a while now.

"We all have a dirty closet at home and you need to clean it up and it is important that we get it done, and we will," said Paul Farmer, president and CEO of the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Farmer admits repairing the two holes shot through the front window of the building isn't a top priority.

He said he doesn't know when they got there, but said it was sometime before he started work back in April.

And despite the city's efforts to to put its best foot forward to outside businesses and the community at large, which the Chamber is behind, it agrees that image change should start at home.

"Since we don't have a lot of people who come into the Chamber it hasn't been as high of a priority, but we'll get it taken care of because we recognize our place in the community," Farmer said.

But Farmer still couldn't promise a date for the repairs, except to say they'd happen sometime next year.

The Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce said it has already started getting quotes to repair the windows.
