Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Wanted Felon

SALINAS, Calif. -- Police arrested 39-year old Hermogene Bernabe for car jacking and an outstanding felony warrant.

The Violence Suppression Unit was looking for a car that had been stolen earlier in the day. Police spotted the car Sunday night just before 9:00 p.m. near North Main and Alvin Avenue.

Two people were originally arrested at the traffic stop. Bernabe was taken to the Monterey County Jail and the passenger was later released without charges.
