Salinas Streets Smacked By Sunday's Rain

Posted: Updated:

SALINAS, Calif.-  In the heart of Salinas, the main concern on Sunday was flooded roads.  It was a one two punch when showers added to the wet mess Friday's storm left behind.  So Central Coast News hit the streets in Salinas to find the hot spots you'll want to avoid if you plan on heading out Sunday night or Monday morning.

Hartnell and Alisal Road got so flooded, the water literally started flowing off the road.  Hartnell Road got so flooded Friday, cars got stuck on the side of the road.  Sunday those roads were closed off.  The water along Hartnell Rd and Alisal almost seemed like its own river.

At Maple and California Street, crews quickly responded to clogged drains, causing some major flooding on the streets.  On River Road near the Chualar River, a mudslide made the roads extra slippery for drivers.

Cars off Old Stage Road did not let the flooded streets keep them from driving through.  The water here was several feet deep.  Those drivers lucky they didn't get stuck like many did on Friday.

Road crews are warning drivers to obey the signs that say the streets are hazardous or flooded.  So they don't wind up getting stuck.
