SEASIDE, Calif. - A child is receiving treatment at a Bay Area trauma center, after falling from a second story window in Seaside on Friday morning.
Seaside Police and Fire responded to the 1700 block
of Waring Street. The child, who was conscious, was
immediately transported to the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula where it was determined he
suffered fractured vertebrae.
Investigation
revealed that the child had climbed onto a sofa which was placed below an open
window. The child then pushed the window screen, fell about 20 feet and landed
in a bush below the window.
Seaside Police say while at CHOMP, the child was moving his extremities normally. Due to the location of the fracture, he was
flown to a trauma center for further treatment.
Based on
the investigation the fall appears to have been accidental.
